It’s hard to tell where this is – so much has changed since then.

I think it’s the North End.

If it’s downtown Boston, the key landmarks would be the customs-house tower and Quincy Market and Fannuel Hall, and I don’t see those in the photo.

Or it could be the West End/ Scolley Square area which was demolished in the 1950’s to allow for urban rejuvenation. I can’t tell.
