I didn’t get over here until I was 26 – I got sidetracked in oz for four years. In hindsight I should have booked a ticket and started saving as soon as I got there. Once you decide to get over to London you’ll start meeting loads of people who are doing the same, or have just come back so there’s plenty of people to ask about the realities – pay, accommodation, ease of getting jobs etc.
There are plenty of other places to live of course, I find the further north you go the friendlier the natives are. I joined a sports club when I first arrived; last Friday I had dinner with 3 of the people I met the first day I went out with the club, 22 years on.
The main things I like are the history and different cultures so close together in Europe, there’s so much to see here if you make the effort to get outside London, even if it’s just for a day or two. Happy travels.
PS, the more money you have when you arrive, the easier things are – start saving!
